Childrens Quilts for playtime fun

When you purchase a Quilts4U Childrens Quilt, you’ll have a lot of fun with the little people in your life. You are making a solid investment with tangible results.

childrens quilt for conversationOur amazing Childrens Quilts have many wonderful attributes

Merely by being used as a blanket, quilts fulfill our basic need for comfort and warmth. Along with this sense of security, by quietly studying the brightly colored fabrics, or in sharing the quilts with another person, our basic need for connections is reassured.

Quilts4U makes unique Childrens Quilts by combining what are known as Conversation Prints with a variety of contrasting solid shade fabrics.  Black accents give visual pop and drama to our Childrens Quilts. Children don’t seem to have a bias against the color black. Black leads the eye to focus on the bright primary and secondary colors as well as on the conversation prints. That’s a talking point in itself, understanding what secondary colors are and how the color wheel works. The engaging designs are planned to stimulate language skills and other developmental abilities.

Language Development - Arithmetic and Mathematics - Science

Here is a list of developmental games you can play with your child using Quilts4U’s interactive Childrens Quilts:

Very young children can simply point to objects, such a dog or a flower.
The basic pointing game develops vocabulary and the concept that objects and actions can be represented in pictures. An older child could name the breed of dog and the type of flower.

The wide and sometimes amusing variety of the conversation prints selected means that you can extend the childrens quilt for humorTouch game in countless ways. For example, “put your baby finger on the ......... ”, or “tap the ........ three times”, or “find two purple things side by side”. Children will spontaneously create their own versions because they will discover more details as they investigate the different conversation prints. If a print is used twice, try to “Find the second barn”.

What are opposites? “First touch a noisy thing and then touch a quiet thing”. A young child soon learns about opposites.  Then that child can lead another in his or her favorite game or any other version they want to make up together. I spy things that are red: a fire truck, apple, heart, stop light.
I spy a ...... and the ...... says “......”.
I spy things in alphabetical order: ape, bumble bee, cabbage, doctor.
These games can be played in teams for more socializing skills.

geometry in childrens quiltsRecall games help in developing systems to remember a series of objects.

Combining colors and descriptive adjectives increases visual awareness, for example, robin’s egg blue or gecko vocabulary for childrens quiltsgreen. These are teachable moments to learn, What is a figure of speech? Alliteration and similes, as slender as a sunflower in summer. But magenta macaroni or lavender lemonade? That’s nonsense!

With older children, you can play an alternating story telling game where each person uses both a picture word and a phrase, such as, There once was a flying ........... who landed on a ........ All of a sudden.........  Children can act out parts of the stories they have just created and this means they must remember what they said earlier. Of course, getting the details mixed up can be pretty funny.  Laughing together is a good thing too.

Using the conversation prints, dramas could be mapped out and invitations could be written for a performance. Or children may prefer to write up the stories and draw pictures to go along with the action. The child’s creation, a little book could be used as a gift to be given to Grandma.

Identify different birds or reptiles with younger children. Learn about species and genus with older children by researching botanical or zoological names.

learn colors in childrens quiltsCounting the total number of pieces sewn into their quilt would help a child count past the typical number 100. Quilts4U Childrens Quilts that have “scrappy” borders would have a much higher number count. This becomes a lesson in the value of using up the smallest of pieces to make something beautiful and functional.

Older children can use a measuring ruler and determine the sizes, even the area of different shapes on the quilt. Calculating the area of a triangle would be more challenging. Learn metric equivalents. Besides identifying the basics of geometry in the quilt’s construction, there is much to be learned by studying the color harmony and visual balance in the dimensions. These are characteristics of all the Quilts4U Childrens Quilts. These concepts adapt to further explorations in learning how art is created.

Treasure hunt, twenty questions, find 10 toys.....These are but a few games that can be played with a Childrens Quilt from Quilts4U.

fun with childrens quiltsOur Childrens Quilts are solidly constructed

All quilts are made with dinosaurs in childrens quilts100% pre-washed cotton fabrics on the front and back. The high quality of the cotton that Quilts4U selects for the quilts means they should give years of pleasure. The quilt patches are sewn with cotton thread. The batting inside is 80% cotton/20% polyester. This blend allows for a flatter appearance, a preference of the creator of Quilts4U. The quilting threads (that hold the 3 layers together) are usually cotton although a few quilts are quilted with Isacord ™ polyester.  A small bottle of recommended soap for gentle cycle machine washing is included with each purchase. Over time and several washings, all quilts become softer. It is not recommended to try to iron a quilt. Do not send any Quilts4U Childrens Quilt for Dry Cleaning.
